I had meant to post pictures earlier but didn't get around to it. I just love this (and there are more pictures of the child having a wonderful time on stage out there). In any case, this little boy decided to join the Pope on stage on Oct. 26 at Family Day in front of some 150,000 people. He did finally settle down-- in the Pope's chair! (Click picture to resize) I forgot to copy the link of the site I got these from but the pictures are all over the Internet. The Telegraph has them and a good story. www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/world/2013/10/30/newday-must-see-moment-boy-interrupts-pope.cnn-ap.htmlThis is very cute but the next is very moving. The Pope embracing a man with "Elephant Man" disease. That is the terrible disease, neurofibromatosis, that Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man, suffered and died from. You can see how severe the tumors this poor man suffers from are. He asked the Pope for a blessing and got it and more.
It is easy to love the healthy and beautiful. The Pope reminds us here that there are many suffering people who need our love, care and compassion too.
