Over at the mother ship yet another pointless "discussion" of an important Christian concept which has had untold thousands of meditations, sermons, poems, articles and books written about it. Yet you would never know that to read that thread. I don't so much mind that people don't get everything right. I very much mind that they don't know that there are real answers, serious answers to those questions and that they are not forced to be satisfied with what they can guess or dream up on their own. Wikipedia happens to have a very good article on the Imago Dei which is well worth reading. I think I may talk about bits and pieces of it as time goes on.
One thing I will point out right now is that the forumlation "image and likeness" is used only 3 times in Genesis (according to Wiki-- I was taught, once upon a time, that it was twice. I think my source is more reliable but don't know). One of those is Adam speaking of his new born son, Seth. This suggests that an important meaning of the phrase is that one is a child of ... So Seth is the child of Adam but we are all, in some real way, children of God. Now that is worth meditating on!
