For all the Saints This is a beloved hymn. I can never hear it enough.
Schubert's "Ave Maria" is not really a hymn at all, although it is so popular it is often sung in church settings. It is a song from his Opus 52 which was a setting of songs from the epic poem, The Lady of the Lake (Sir Walter Scott) In any case it is performed here by Barbara Bonney and I agree with the young man who posted it-- it is the most beautiful version ever.
I love this performance. It isn't my style of music but somehow it speaks to me.
Without fail we hear the Litany of the Saints at Easter and on a few other occasions.
