Someone on the support board has asked that a feature be added that would make it possible to delete all one's posts in one action. I cannot believe anyone thinks that is a good idea but there are a number of admins who do. The PB terms of service explicitly state that post content belongs to the poster, which makes sense if we are talking about original artwork and, say, stories or essays. But how can anyone think leaving big gaps in a discussion thread is a good idea? The poster who proposed the idea is quite passionate about it. She thinks there are those admins who would not delete a post if asked to that contain personal information. I think that is preposterous. We already have the ability to delete posts and are unlikely to have shared personal information on 50 or 100 of them. I am really surprised anyone thinks this is a good idea. What do you all think? Your opinion matters and if this proposal starts going anyplace, I will be glad to represent your views as well as my own.

I can not think of any purpose or need to be able to mass delete posts. Also if a post has had any replies it is almost always best not to delete it.

That strikes me as plain common sense but the woman who is proposing this function (and others agree with her) is so passionate about it that she comes across as angry and unreasonable.
The one PB big shot who has responded does not seem to favor the idea.

Sounds like new forum owners that haven't figured out how to handle spame post.

Actually, it isn't spam that concerned the one who started the thread. She feels that members own their posts (the PB TOS seems to indicate that too, which is why it is possible for someone not only to delete individual posts but his/her account. Her concern was not just accidental revelation of personal information but that it makes it easy for members to remove all traces of themselves, if they like. This is their absolute right. Mind you this is an admin who says she doesn't see a problem with big gaping holes in threads!
The thread was locked by one of the really big wigs-- an owner of PB. I am not sure why. While some people felt strongly on both sides of the issue, the only one who was a little irrational was the woman who started the thread. The big guy indicated that nothing was going to change.
I never did get an answer to my question about the TOS and whether we were interpreting it correctly.

as long as they let you run the forum as it now is, there probably is no need for concern.
