I've never seen a window at a Kingdom Hall. What the heck are they hiding? Meat. :D

Meat! Good to see you--you'll keep us on our toes! JST those are wonderful pictures but I think I know what Meat means. It seems like whenever there was a new one built when I lived in Iowa, they didn't have windows. I always assumed that made getting them up in one day (and those are the ones we would hear about) far easier.

I know of what I speak of. The question is why? It should be a simple answer. :D

I haven't the faintest idea. I've never personally noticed kingdom halls without windows. All the kingdom halls I've been to had windows. I think. Unless I just didn't notice there were none.
I guess one possible answer is what Maggie suggested. Kingdom halls are built by volunteers. Many times the number of volunteers is enormous. Frequently kingdom halls are erected in 1-3 days soley by the use of volunteers. One day is used up letting the foundation dry. So it may be for ease of construction or to lower cost because often the materials are also donated.
Sometimes it could be for security I guess. They are often not as well recieved as the majority of Christians.
But I really don't know. They certainly are not hiding anything. Their meetings are public meetings. Anyone is welcome.

Too funny. JST, you lost a potential convert. Who knew that Meat wanted to play with snakes?

Deep inside his heart, Meat is a Christian. Prodigal son. Just hasn't seen the Father yet.

^Dang. I thought snake-handling was the reason. :D No that's done in their spare time. Haven't you ever noticed them going door to door carrying snakes? ;) Speaking of that my wife almost stepped on a copperhead the other day. Her foot was about six inches from it and noone noticed it until it started moving away.

Now that is not funny. Copperheads are pretty aggressive. Did you see the disgusting film footage that was going around this week of a decapitated copperhead that bit its own writhing body? It was unbelievably gross to see that.

No actually that's a myth. People mistake them for being aggressive because their typical tactic is to play dead. So since it does not move away people think it is aggressive. I mean if you mess with them they'll bite but they won't chase you like a cottonmouth will. They bit defensively, but even if they do bite it's often a dry bite. But if they feel threatened enough they will definately defend themselves to the best of their abilities. Some may be a little tempermental but generally they are not aggresive.
My super macho brother in law got bit by one once because the stepped on it. He didn't go to the hospital for about two hours because he was tough and thought he could shrug it off. He nearly died before it was over. He lived an hour from the hospital, and the anti-venom worked more slowly in his system than normal. That little snake took the macho right out of him for many days. So they are best avoided but usually if you don't bother them they won't bother you.
However my brother-in-law still thinks he could shrug off a police taser. :o

I am glad to know that but I am not going to try testing it for myself! We have a lot of them in Alabama, although my house is in a neighborhood that doesn't have the kind of brush cover we tend to find them in. I am trying to imagine ignoring a snake bite. The mind boggles. But the taser-- well, that challenge could actually be tested, as long as he doesn't have heart disease or something. Be sure to video tape his reaction!

Here is a silly question, Is "kingdom of god" a term used for jw churchs? Is it an international term?

JST hasn't been around very much in the last couple of days so I will take a shot at this. The Kingdom of God is the all important Christian concept of God's ultimate purpose in sending Jesus Christ-- to redeem mankind, and reconcile us to God. It is not so much a place but an attitude, or quality of mind and soul. It seeks to make peace, justice, and everything we understand to be godliness, real in our lives. In other words, the Kingdom of God is within us when we strive to do and be what Christ taught us to do and be.
The Jehovah's Witnesses have a very well-developed and somewhat different understanding in that they expect that Christ will return and reign on earth for 1000 years. Some Protestants believe something similar. Catholics believe that at the last judgment, those who are saved will reign with Christ in glory forever. There will not be a 1000 year "in between stage" between the old earth and heaven. But I must let JST explain the Witnesses's beliefs.
