Yep, there is. I probably best described as an atheist.
While I call myself a Taoist, I try to be careful here because i have never interacted with anybody with lineage in a meaningful way and some of them have beliefs I probably dont share.
Some Taoists certainly seem to believe in heavens beyond. While I want to, I probably Don't.
Where i am coming from. This isn't for debate here apparently. but in terms of the taboo topic of divine existence while I acknowledge several arguments have merit, I see all of them grounded in flaws and being ultimately inconclusive. Ultimately, if you believe, faith rather than logos is required, in my opinion. If I felt otherwise, i wouldn't be an atheist. A non-faith could be involved in me ultimately concluding falsehood rather than concluding simple that i have no clue. Life after death woukd be cool but my wxperience leads me to reject such as optimistic.
So why bother to come here? Well, most adherents to faiths about Kingdoms beyond end up striving to make our current kingdom better either directly or not. Self improvement is what spiritual growth is about
Also, i find some atheist straw men attacks or otger assertions annoying. I dont buy tge idea tgat scriptures cant be interpreted intelligently while getting that leeway for interpretation exists.

Moose! Glad to see you here. If you think you might like to have your own category in which to post about Taoism like we have for Catholicism, Islam, etc. just say the word. I will make you one. Really, we want to discuss religion and philosophy here; we just don't want to get hostile about it.
Nabilbb, glad to see you back with a beautiful avatar!

Welcome to the forum evilmoose, Can you tell me a bit about Taoist? is it a religion? Yes, it is a religion or a family of them but also a philosophy. I can only tell you what i know which is mostly about the "cultivation" and balance tradition which is a popular western interpretation of Taoist texts. I know a bit about some of the sects but very little. It is hard to obtain good information on them.
