I find myself unenthusiastic when faced with the proposition of talking to most JW's because I feel like JW's aren't thinking about what I'm saying. There seems to be this process whereby I personally spend significant time communicating a problem I have with JW theology, the JW goes and searches JW internet sources, and comes back and pastes an answer.
There is rarely any variation from this behavior.
Is this intentional? Cultural?

I can't speak for anyone but me, but I do it for a couple reasons. Sometimes I do it because there's a lot of information that I don't want to reproduce but I want to be thorough. But I will gladly discuss those things. I usually only do this to begin a discussion.
Other times it's because I don't want to misrepresent their teaching. I would hate for someone to go off half bent because I told them something wrong about JW beliefs.

No, I've just studied their teachings and believe them to be true. I am working toward becoming one.

You believe their teachings to be true? Including the teachings about the leadership?

Do you believe that they have the power to rewrite Scripture, have sole interpretive authority...
By chance were you raised JW?

No, I was raised a Baptist/Nazarene/Assemby of God. No they don't have the power to rewrite scripture. JWs also are not taught to depend soley on one interpretation of the Bible when studying scripture as a lot of people think, but rather are encouraged to compare multiple translations. They even do this in their literature if accuracy of translation is an issue. Even when going door to door they are instructed to use the householder's Bible if they are willing to get it out.
As far as interpretive authority is concerned yes I believe that has been given to them. However I don't accept what they say at face value nor is anyone taught to do so. Witnesses are encouraged to "search the scriptures daily" to see if these things are true.

Do you believe that they have the power to rewrite Scripture, have sole interpretive authority... By chance were you raised JW? The Holy Spirit reveals Scripture. Anyone who does not believe in the Trinity and how God relates to the ages is a false witness of the written Gospel. Our authority is the Word of God, the Scriptures 66 books The Holy Bible.

JST, What do JW's do when they come to a door where someone uses a Bible that is saying that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three persons and one god?

When you say the earliest Christians got by without that doctrine, do you mean to say they got by without the word?
The doctrine of the trinity is really obvious in Scripture, unless you're taught specifically not to believe in it.
Like Jews who are taught not to believe the Bible concerning the Messiah, it takes a long time for the anti-Christian lies to unwind.

The first act of grace to a Christian in the realm of faith is God revealing to that believer that Jesus is the incarnate Son of God. Uncreated eternally self existing. I believe that a person after that revelation can get deceived or caught up in false teachings.

That is not the same as saying he is Almighty God. The following scripture reprents my belief. "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1 Cor 8:6)

JST, I find that in general Witnesses don't look at the Scriptures they quote. For instance you quoted 1 Cor 8:6 which says there is one Lord.
Does that mean that Almighty God is not the Lord? Because you said (in that verse) that Jesus is the Lord.
So are there two Lords or one Lord?

To me that scripture means there is one Lord, that is, one appointed ruler. And there is one God, the Father, that apppointed that ruler. Jesus is Lord in similar way that King David was Lord, although Christ is of divine origin. However, since Christ receives his authority to rule from Jehovah, Jehovah is also correctly called a Lord.
"The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet." (Mt 24:44 NIV)
While that is a slightly incorrect quote of Psalm 110:1, it is still accurate and demonstrates my point. Notice the scripture in 1 Cor also said there is one God, and it is not the trinity but the father. It's the same person Jesus called "my God" (Jn 20:17). It doesn't say the trinity is God, it says the Father is God. My God is the same person, not persons, as Jesus' God.
