Well, my day has been horrible so far. First I couldn't sleep. I got to bed at 1:30 a.m. and was up at 5:15. But that pales in comparison to my realization that my cat Pouncey is gone. Usually he is prancing through the house demanding breakfast as soon as I get up. Not today. Then it hit me that I had not seen him the night before. I think what happened is this. I let the cats out at 6:40 a.m. every day. They come back in at 7:20 a.m. like clockwork, if not before to eat. I always count noses to make sure they are all in, and then I lock up and get ready to leave for work. I don't think I did yesterday.
The thing that makes this so terrible is that he could be gone for days. He hardly wants to go out at all these days but when he does, he reverts to his youthful wild ways. He has been gone for 4 days a couple of times. It drives me nuts. So now I am worried about him. I envision him trapped in some hot garage without water or food. I can hardly stand it. Well, I have called and called him which is pretty much all I can do. It is going to be a long day...

My day has been hot and tiring. 97 muggy degrees and a push mower are no fun. Plus today I have to get this thing removed from my wrist. It's called a Bible bump lol. Or it was in the old days.

And yesterday was a big blow up. We had some little dweeb come to our door looking for a donation for a trip to England for his College theatre project. Well he got me good and I wrote him a check then my boys find out about it and look it up on the Internet and find out he is a scam artist. I did not believe my boys and then it showed up on Facebook so I googled it myself turns out everyone was right I got scammed so I had to call the bank and stop payment on the check. I wanna wring that kids neck!

Well I have never been ripped off before and someone coming to my front door to do it sure is lousy. Thanks for the doggie smilie it worked. Four stitches in my wrist when I was not expecting any makes for a lousy evening.

Oh no! lol cute smilie. The dr. Had to dig around in my wrist and push and push for about 45 minutes. I knew I was in trouble when the nurse asked me if I worked and if I had to work. I did get ice cream later in the evening delivered. :)

The wife comes on the weekends as he works close to here and she has been staying during the week at their apartment because it is close to her job. The new house is equal distance between both jobs. It's a fun time...mostly :)

Oh that is exciting. I am looking to buy a house too but Florida is such a mess. It has never had real zoning laws and, consequently, unless you can afford to live in the old parts of town when there were real neighborhoods, you can and do find two mansions next to a dumpy trailer park, next to a cement mixing plant, 4 middle class homes across from railroad tracks and next to a gun shop, and on and on. I just refuse to live like that. I want neighborhoods and kids at Halloween. Unless I could afford to live in the country. Then, all bets are off!

I just refuse to live like that. I want neighborhoods and kids at Halloween. Unless I could afford to live in the country. Then, all bets are off! That's how it was when we were looking for a house in Indiana. The zoning was all screwed up. The state did have a lot of neighborhoods subdivisions but often it was off of a newly made 4 or 5 lane highway with all kinds of new businesses and Indiana was strip malls galore. When we first started looking I wanted to go see a Town but they don't have many towns that have been preserved. For the most part many of the towns were abandoned and houses were built in subdivisions. The towns often had poor sidewalks and a few businesses. Where I live they still have a downtown business development authority. We have downtown beautification projects and a historic society. Many towns all around our town have the same preservation mindset. We found nice home in Indiana in a nice subdivision but the feel was not the same. Also in Indiana they would two names for one road. Some people would call it by its old name and some would call it its new name the new name was often a number the old name a word. Drove me nuts trying to get places being new to the state.

And Maggie. Yes in Indiana whenever we looked at housing in a town in Indiana that did seem to have zoning and a preserved downtown it was more expensive to live there. Carmel Indiana comes to mind. I loved it but it was very expensive to buy there. The thing about Florida is that most of it is flooded with vacationers and part time residents. I love Florida but I don't think I would enjoy living there full time. I hope you find what you are looking for.

My first venture with Craigslist is not going well. Last Sat. I bought an absolutely gorgeous tv stand, paid for it, and it was to be delivered (for a price!) tomorrow. Well, the owner has to work tomorrow and all of a sudden there are all sorts of complications with delivery. So, I just called a man who does all sorts of moving from big to small. He actually met me at Petco about 18 months ago and brought my two big cat trees home for me at a decent price. They would not fit in my car, no way no how. I just don't think he can do this job cheaply because the stand is big, solid wood, and heavy. He is going to need help. Sigh. So now my bargain isn't much of a bargain. I guess I need to take the attitude, live and learn.

My sympathies are with you. You are not alone, it seems at least once a month we buy a "Fantastic Bargain" and then end up spending 10 times it's value to get it home, only to discover it won't fit through the door.
Latest is a beautiful "Hoosier Cupboard" pre-1920 all original including the flour sifter. In excellent shape.
Drove 800 miles to pick it up. Only to discover we couldn't get it on the pick-up. Bought a flat bed trailer for $XXX finally got it loaded and made it home. It is still on the trailer, won't fit through the door. Have to wait till spring and then cut a new door way into the kitchen.
I hope I don't find anymore bargains to buy.
